Water has a calming effect on the senses and conveys a feeling of clarity. The private residence ‘Schöne Aussicht‘ with its location directly at the Außenalster and Feenteich is surrounded by water und reflects those sensory impressions in its interior. Therefore, brightness and calmness are important attributes of the design concept. In this sense, Corian skirting boards, walls smoothed with bright colours and indirect lighting give the impression of clarity, tranquillity and create a modern vibe.
At the same time, the project shows neoclassic design elements: high ceilings, French herringbone parquet by Schotten & Hansen and stucco give the interior a discreet elegance, which is underlined by high quality materials. For example, Calacatta marble and Pietra Grey limestone are used in the kitchen and bathroom. The washstands in the bathroom are made of one massive marble block. The sinks, artfully milled into the stone, have a three-dimensional feel, which creates an interesting aesthetic. The fittings in the sanitary facilities by Dornbracht and Vola emphasize the minimalist interior concept.
In the dressing room the interplay of reduced design and neoclassicism is expressed vividly. Classical style elements like herringbone parquet and stucco encounter an individually manufactured wardrobe with upholstered cabinet doors and an integrated built-in closet system by Rimadesio. Water as a theme is mirrored in the wardrobe coverings: iridescent fabrics by Dedar/Hermès reflect the calm water surface of the Alster. The wardrobe handles are made of individually manufactured bronzed brass.
Another homage to the neoclassical style is the elaborately manufactured fireplace in the living area, which is made of one massive Pietra Grey marble block. Individually chosen Italian design furniture by Rimadesio and Minotti as well as custom-made furniture in collaboration with Italian craftsman businesses connects classic design with a clear design language. The high-quality technical lighting concept in cooperation with Kreon accentuates single furniture pieces in the house and creates a calm and pleasant atmosphere. Designer lamps by Galotti & Radice become decorative elements in the design concept.
Through its modest and clear design language the private residence ‘Schöne Aussicht’ becomes a place of tranquillity. Neoclassic style elements and high-quality materials blend in harmoniously but also give the project a fascinating facet.
